Project: Construction of an ATX cabinet

by Mr.Anki
Worklog: Here

There are countless case designs out there both manufactured and scratch built by enthusiasts but Project: Construction of an ATX cabinet is one more design that we haven't come across before. Specifically the vertically offset intake fans are what caught our attention and look pretty neat if we do say so ourselves!

Even more impressive is the fact that the case will be totaly scratch built out of wood so to achieve the racey looks of the renders below, Mr.Anki will certainly have his work cut out. Thankfully though from what we've seen so far Mr.Anki is on top of things and that gorgeous front section has already taken shape.

Mr.Anki proceeded to polish to the back of the motherboard tray with a Dremel kindly sponsored by the rotary tool manufacturer itself. The case quickly took shape too with various panels of cut and moulded MDF gradually coming together.

Above we can see the motherboard tray having been fitted into the case already. Looks like a neat job to us and what appears to be a PSU mounting holes is evident too.

At last we can see that gorgeous front panel coming to life made from two seperate bits of wood with one of the 120mm fans mounted and evidence of some 5.25 in bays at the top too. On the right the case is really coming along and nearly looks ready for some hardware with the motherboard tray installed.

In the latest images from Mr.Anki's project log, we can see even more work going on with the front panel which has now received a fan controller, power switch and some carefully fashioned drive bay covers. The fans too have been installed along with a few other bits and bobs. Definitely one to watch so make sure you keep track of Mr.Anki's project log.
